CrystalLine Hinge Door System with In-Line
& Return Panels on Level
Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT: Read all instructions
carefully and become familiar with all parts before installation.
ATTENTION: If using CrystalLine Frameless
Door, refer to steps #4,
#7 &
#8 of the
CrystalLine Frameless Hinge Door Installation
Instructions for information regarding the hinge assembly,
drip rail & handle.
STEP 1
Thresholds (A) are pre-cut to specified centerline
dimensions and can be distinguished from headers by the weep
holes. Insert 90° corner bracket (B) and position mitered
ends tightly together. Drill 1/8" tap holes through the
holes provided and secure with #6 x 3/8" screws (C)
NOTE: Caulk holes before securing with screws
STEP 2
Apply a generous bead of silicone based caulk
to the underside of thresholds (A) and place on curb. Using
a level, position the wall jambs (D) into the thresholds and
against the walls, with the longer legs towards the opening.
Mark through the holes provided for anchoring. Drill 3/16" holes
and insert plastic anchors (E) for masonry applications or drill
1/8" tap holes for fiberglass and acrylic units. Secure jambs
to the walls with #8 x 1-1/2"screws (F).
STEP 3
Place glass setting blocks (G) with legs facing
down in the return threshold about 3" from the wall and corner.
Set return glass panel (H) in place and position 90° post (I).
STEP 4
Place glass setting blocks (G) with legs facing
down in the front threshold about 3" from the corner or wall
and the approximate location of the H-post (J). Set inline glass
panel (K) in place.
STEP 5
Using a level, position the H-post (J) with
the deeper pocket towards the in-line glass panel (K). Standard
glass penetration into the wall jamb (D) and H-post (J) is 3/8".
NOTE: Improper positioning
of the glass and H-post may not allow enough room for the door
assembly.
STEP 6
Headers (L) are overcut. Measure for headers
and cut.
NOTE: The 90° corner
post must be plumb before measuring for headers.
STEP 7
Insert 90° corner brackets (B) and position
mitered ends tightly together. Drill 1/8" tap holes through
holes provided and secure with #6 x 3/8" screws (C).
STEP 8
Place header assembly on top of unit. Drill
9/64" tap holes through the header to the wall jambs (D), corner
post (I) and H-post (J). Verify that the corner post and the
H-post are plumb before drilling here. Secure with #8 x 7/16"
screws (M).
STEP 9
Secure the wall jambs (D), corner post (I)
and the H-post (J) to the threshold assembly with 9/64" tap
holes and #8 x 7/16" screws (M).
STEP 10
Position the door assembly (N) into the opening.
Plumb the door assembly and secure it to the wall jamb (D) or
H-post (J) using #8 x 1/2" Tek screws (O) through the holes
provided.
STEP 11
Position the header/threshold inserts (P)
against the hinge jamb and snap into place. Make certain upright
leg is to outside of shower.
STEP 12
Position the strike jamb (Q) into the opening
and flush against the header/threshold inserts (P). Secure to
the wall jamb (D) or H-post (J) using #8 x 1/2" Tek screws (O
) through the holes provided.
STEP 13
There are two different types of vinyl for
glazing the panels (H); vertical vinyl (R) and horizontal vinyl
(S). The horizontal vinyl is larger and installs first. Cut
the vinyl to the opening, trimming the ends on a 45° miter.
Install the vinyl on the interior side first by pressing into
the threshold & header. Follow with the exterior side, and then
install the vertical vinyl the same way being sure the corners
fit tightly together.
NOTE: If vinyl is difficult to press in, lubricate with glass
cleaner.
STEP 14
Secure the drip anchor (AA) with sweep (BB)
to the bottom of the door panel (N) using #8 x 1/2" Tek screws
(O). The drip anchor should be flush with the bottom of
the door.
STEP 15
Insert the drip channel end plug (DD) into
the end of the drip channel (CC). Position drip channel (CC)
with the highest point towards the strike jamb and angle down
for desired drainage. Secure with
#6 x 7/32" screws (EE).
STEP 16
Install the handles (T) with #6-32 x 1-1/2"
screws (U) provided.
STEP 17
Caulk all edges and joints exposed to water
using a silicone based caulk or other suitable sealant that
will prevent water leakage.
