CrystalLine Frameless Hinge Door

Installation Instructions

IMPORTANT: Read all instructions carefully and become familiar with all parts before installation.

STEP 1

Threshold (A) is overcut. Measure opening for threshold and cut.

STEP 2

Apply a generous bead of silicone based caulk to the underside of the threshold (A) and place on the curb with the upright leg towards the outside of the unit.

STEP 3

Using a level, position the wall jambs (B) on the threshold and against the walls with the longer legs toward the opening. Mark through the holes provided for anchoring. Drill 3/16" holes and insert plastic anchors (C) for masonry applications or drill 1/8" tap holes for fiberglass and acrylic units. Secure jambs (B) to the walls with #8 x 1-1/2" screws (D).

STEP 4

The vinyl drip rail (H) is notched at both ends and overcut. Orient the drip rail on the inside of the door glass, notched end over the hinge stile with the soft sweep hanging down. Cut the drip rail to fit the door glass width with allowance to clear the strike jamb.

Thoroughly clean the bottom of the glass panel where the drip will be applied using the alcohol wipe provided. Dry the glass thoroughly making sure no residue is left on the glass.

Starting at the notched end, peel the tape film back 2–3 inches. Place the taped portion of the drip even to above the bottom of the door glass. Pull the film off 2 to 3 inches at a time while keeping the drip level across the bottom of the glass. Rub the drip in place several times to be certain it is firmly fastened.

NOTE: Do not touch the tape adhesive.

A very thin bead of clear silicone between the glass and the top of the drip is recommended.

STEP 5

Position the door assembly (E) into the opening. Plumb the door assembly and secure it to the wall jamb (B) using #8 x 1/2" Tek screws (F) through the holes provided.

NOTE: The hinge stile must be flush with the bottom of the door glass to accommodate the drip rail. If not, it may be necessary to remove one of the hinge screws, slip the hinge jamb out, turn it over, re-insert and re-secure the hinge screw.

STEP 6

Position the strike jamb assembly (G) and plumb to the door panel (E). Secure the strike jamb to the wall jamb (B) as in step #5.

NOTE: When installing the vinyl on the strike jamb on KD units, be sure to insert the vinyl with the short leg toward the jamb. See detail drawing.

STEP 7

Center handle pad and handle (I) on the strike edge of the door glass with the strike plate to the inside. Using a rubber mallet tap handle onto glass. Close door to check alignment of the magnet and strike plate. Make slight adjustments by moving the handle in or out for maximum latch strength.

NOTE: Strike plate must cover both upright legs of the magnet channel.

STEP 8

Caulk all edges and joints exposed to water using a silicone based caulk or other suitable sealant that will prevent water leakage.
