CrystalLine Hinge Door System with Operable
Frameless Transom
IMPORTANT: Read all instructions
and become familiar with all parts before installation.
This instruction is to be used in conjunction
with CrystalLine frameless or framed hinge door instructions,
whichever is applicable.
Substitute threshold (A) parts in these instructions
for the threshold (A) parts in the door instructions.
STEP 1
Threshold (A) and header (S) are overcut.
Measure opening for both parts and cut.
STEP 2
Install the door assembly following the appropriate
CrystalLine framed or frameless hinge door instructions using
the header (S) and using the threshold and insert (A) in place
of the threshold (A) shown in the instructions.
STEP 3
If the Transom glass is customer supplied,
assemble the transom door glass (X) into the transom hinge stile
and assemble the transom hinge the same way a vertical frameless
door is assembled. Otherwise, the transom will be shipped assembled.
STEP 4
Assemble the holder and pad (U) to the center
of the transom glass (X) capturing the keeper assembly between
the holder and the glass edge. An equal length of the keeper
should protrude on each side of the holder.
STEP 5
Install the transom magnet (V) in the center
of the steam insert (R) and install equal lengths of the strike/steam
seal (T) on each side of the magnet. Snap the steam insert (R)
into the header (S).
STEP 6
Slide the strike/steam seal (T) into the transom
strike (P). The length of the strike seal is to be cut about
1" shorter than (P) to allow for the width of the transom hinge
assembly. Slide the transom strike (P) onto the wall jamb and
rest it on top of the vertical hinge assembly. Fasten the transom
strike (P) to the wall jamb making sure it aligns vertically
with the door hinge jamb. Use the 8 1/2" long tek screws (Y)
for this purpose.
STEP 7
Fasten the transom support (Q) to the flanges
of the transom strike (P) and full length strike (N) using four#8
x 1/2” tek screws (Y). Fasten the transom support (Q) to transom
strike (P) first, using only one screw. The bottom edge of the
transom support (Q) must be even with the bottom edge of the
transom strike (P). Level the transom support (Q) and fasten
the opposite end to the full length strike (N) using two
#8x1/2" tek screws (Y). Now put the second screw through
the flange of the transom strike (P) into the other end of transom
support (Q). Install the flexible seal (M) to the underside
of the transom support (Q) using VHB double-sided adhesive tape.
NOTE: This job is made easier by drilling
1/16 dia. pilot holes through both the strike jamb flanges and
the transom support legs.
STEP 8
Install the transom door assembly (X) by sliding
the hinge jamb over the horizontal transom support (Q). Adjust
the door so the vertical glass clearance is even on each side
and closes against the magnet (V). Adjust for about 1/16" clearance
between the holder (U) and the steam insert (R). Fasten the
hinge jamb to the transom support (Q) using two #8x1/2" tek
screws (Y).
STEP 9
Fasten both ends of the transom keeper (O)
to the header (S) using #6 x 3/8" tek screws (Z). The screws
should be placed 5" to 6" apart in the horizontal center on
the inside of the header (S). Make sure the keeper line lengths
are equal on each side of the holder.
STEP 10
Install the optional, customer-supplied knob
(W) on the inside of the transom glass.
