CrystalLine Hinge Custom Unit

Measuring Tips

  • Use the CrystalLine take off sheets to assist you in getting all the necessary measurements.
  • Always keep a level with you. It is of most importance to detect any drastic out of plumb/level conditions on the mounting surfaces. A level can also be helpful when measuring the height of a buttress. Sometimes buttress heights that have bull-nosed tile edges can be difficult to accurately measure. Use your level as a straight edge to extend the true height of the buttress wall out so that it can be measured easily and accurately.
  • Be sure to check the overall height of the unit from the top of the curb to the top of the tile, cultured marble, or fiberglass stall. If the available standard heights will not work, custom sizes can be purchased from Southeastern Aluminum or fabricated in your shop.
  • Check to see if neo-angles are truly 135 degrees. If realized in advance, adjustable corner posts can be purchased to ensure a correct fit and smooth installation. A quick way to check for a true neo is to look at the grout lines in the floor. If the triangles formed against the shower walls have at least two equal sides, then it is a true neo. If the triangles do not have two equal sides, then it is not a true neo.
  • Some organizations choose to prepare for odd angles in the shop before taking material to the job site. If this is the case with your organization, use a protractor, or an angle finder to find the angle’s true measurement. One of our adjustable header brackets can also be used as a substitute. Transfer the dimension of the angle to paper by tracing your selected tool. If you find yourself caught off guard without a device to measure the angle, try folding a piece of paper to conform to the angle.
  • Be sure to crease distinctly to ensure the integrity of your dimension. Using this information, the installer or the fabricator in your shop can size his material accordingly. This tip is most useful when the faces of one or more walls are not perpendicular to the front opening. Without an accurate replica of this situation, your installer is likely to make multiple trips to finish the job correctly.
  • Keep in mind that centerline measurements do not have to be on the center of the curbs. The centerline is merely the center of our metal. By adjusting the position of the door on a neo angle shower, you can manipulate the centerline to allow for a standard width door.
