Parklane By-Pass
Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT: Read all instructions
carefully and become familiar with all parts before installation.
STEP 1
Sill track (A) is over-cut. Measure
opening for sill track and cut 1/4" less than measurement to
allow for wall jambs (B). Apply bead of silicone based caulk
to bottom of sill track and position on curb with the low side
to the inside of the unit. Leave equal space at each end.
STEP 2
Position the wall jambs (B) over the sill
track (A) and press down to the curb. Using a level, plumb
wall jambs. Mark through the holes provided for anchoring. Drill
3/16" clearance holes and insert plastic anchors (C) for masonry
applications or drill 1/3/48" tap holes for fiberglass and acrylic
units.
STEP 3
Secure wall jambs (B) with #6 x 3/4" screws
(D). Use bumpers (E) in the center holes of wall jambs. Install
the bumpers (E) so that the inside panel of the by-pass will
pocket into the wall jamb closest to the shower head.
STEP 4
Header (F) is over-cut. Measure for header
and cut 1/3/48" less than opening. Place header down on top
of wall jambs (B) with the rounded side facing out.
STEP 5
Hang the outside panel (G) by the rollers
(H) on the tracks inside the header (F). Repeat for the inside
panel.
NOTE: If unit is made with obscure glass,
set panels so that the smoother side of glass is to the inside
of unit.
STEP 6
Move panels (G) to closed position. To adjust
a panel to be plumb with wall; remove the panel, reposition
the roller (H) on bracket (I) as needed and re-hang panel.
STEP 7
With panels hung from header and plumb with
walls, snap in bottom guides (J) under the ledges of the sill
track (A). Lubricate lightly as needed.
STEP 8
Insert forked ends of towel bar brackets (K)
into open ends of towel bars (L). Position towel bar assembly
on panel and attach with #8-32 X 3/4" screws through holes provided.
NOTE: The forked ends of the brackets
may be spread slightly to ensure a snug fit.
STEP 9
Two optional finger pulls (N) are included.
If used they are attached using the #8-32 x 3/4" towel bar screws
and are installed on the panel edges that pocket into the bumpers
(E).
STEP 10
Caulk the ends of the sill track and all other
areas exposed to water using a silicone based caulk or other
suitable sealant that will prevent water leakage.
